The view from TOPRA on the Regulatory Affairs jobs market

At emedcareers, we like to get out and about as much as possible to get to know candidates and recruiters in our sectors and to get the inside track on what’s going on in the recruitment market.

As part of this, on the 7th and 8th of October 2009 we were over in Stockholm at the Symposium organised by  The Organization for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs.  We got to meet a large number of the 300+ European regulatory affairs professionals there (and had a sizeable chunk of them sign up to emedcareers!) and were please see to that all the recruitment agencies and CROs there were our clients.

Jobs boom in the Indian pharma market

In the midst of a lot of bad news in the pharmaceutical jobs market – with an estimated 53,000 jobs cut by multinationals alone so far in 2009 (double the level for the whole of 2008) – it was interesting to see the contrast over in India.  Reports suggest that the level of hiring has increased five-fold, with vacancies growing in all disciplines, but particularly in Marketing and Sales, where Pfizer, Astra Zeneca and MSD Pharma have been particularly active.

emedcareers takes part in The Guardian’s Clinical Research Jobs and Careers forum

emedcareers was pleased to have been invited to take part in a live online Clinical Research careers forum, hosted by The Guardian.

Also on the panel were Sue Fitzpatrick (Education manager at the Institute of Clinical Research), Iain R Jessup (Vice President at i3 Pharma Resourcing), Paul Westnedge (Global head of resourcing at CRO Phlexglobal) and Steve Dilworth (Chiltern International)

We had a wide range of questions, from recent graduates looking for advice how to start their career in Clinical Trials, to questions on the value of NHS experience when looking for a job in the commercial pharma sector, and candidates working on clinical trials overseas looking to get a foothold in the UK pharma jobs market.
